Palacio Libertad

The revamped 17th edition of the newly named Ventana Sur - Rio de la Plata will take place in Buenos Aires from December 1-5 2025 under new executive director Ralph Haiek.

The former head of the Argentinian film body INCAA and television industry veteran will take the helm at the event, which relocates to Palacio Libertad and replaces the old hub in Puerto Madero where it has run since inception in 2009.

Ventana Sur is returning to Buenos Aires after the market took place in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 2024. Uruguayan Film & Audiovisual Agency joined Cannes Marché and INCAA (National Institute of Cinema & Audiovisual Arts of Argentina) as a market co-organiser last year amid Argentina’s financial crisis.

As Screen first reported, the market will alternate between Buenos Aires and Montevideo through 2026.

This year’s event will host screenings, work-in-progress events, pitch sessions, panel discussions, and networking.

INCAA president Carlos Pirovano said, “We are thrilled to bring Ventana Sur back to Argentina for its 17th edition, reaffirming our country’s central role as a hub of creativity and innovation in the global audiovisual landscape. This year, under the expert leadership of our executive director, Ralph Haiek – a seasoned professional with deep industry connections and a proven track record – we are poised to elevate the market to new heights.”

Cannes Marché executive director Guillaume Esmiol added, “As co-organisers, we’re proud to contribute our international network and market expertise to help drive the continued growth of this unique event.”
