EXCLUSIVE: Italy’s Vision Distribution has signed on for international sales to Three O’Clock In The Morning, the next film from Chicken For Linda! director Chiara Malta.
Stefano Accorsi (Diamanti, Italian Race) will star in the 1980s set Three O’Clock In The Morning as an Italian mathematician who finds himself having to spend three days and two nights in Marseille with his only teenage son, who grew up with his mother.
The boy, who suffers from epilepsy, must undergo an experimental treatment that requires him to remain awake for two consecutive nights. Between nocturnal wanderings and sleep deprivation, father and son truly discover each other for the first time.
The Italian director co-wrote the story and screenplay for Three O’Clock In The Morning with Giacomo Carraro. The live action film is based on Gianrico Carofiglio’s novel which has sold more than 400,000 copies sold in Italy and has been translated worldwide.
Filming will take place between Marseille and Rome in the autumn.
The film’s original score will be composed by Clément Ducol, Oscar winner for Best Original Song in Emilia Pérez (2025).
It is produced by Italy’s Fidelio in association with France’s Superbe Film and Italy’s Vision Distribution. Italian and International distribution will be handled by Vision Distribution.
Chicken for Linda!, which Malta directed with Sébastien Laudenbach, won best feature at Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2023 and best animated film at the César Awards in 2024.
