Warner Bros. Discovery and leading Korean studio CJ ENM have forged a major co-production and distribution partnership that will create a pipeline for Korean drama and unscripted series.

The multi-year partnership will see HBO Max become the home of Tving – the Korean streaming platform launched by CJ ENM – in 17 markets across Asia Pacific, including Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Launching in early 2026, subscribers will have access to new K-drama titles, alongside existing scripted and unscripted entertainment from CJ ENM and Tving’s library. Ahead of this, several Korean titles will become available next month including the premiere of drama Dear X on November 6.

The two companies will also co-invest and co-produce original Korean drama for global distribution on HBO Max.

“This collaboration marks a cornerstone of our commitment to great locally relevant stories in key markets around the world,” said David Zaslav, president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery.

Miky Lee, vice chairwoman of CJ Group, said: “Together, we will deliver authentic narratives that transcend borders on a platform where fans can discover new favourites, revisit timeless classics, and experience the best in global content.”

Further details of the content line-up will be shared in the coming months, according to the companies.

It marks the latest move by CJ ENM, perhaps best-known internationally as the financier and distributor of Oscar-winner Parasite, to expand its operations beyond South Korea. This year marks its 30th anniversary, which the company has declared its “first official year of global expansion”.

The group operates production powerhouses including drama outfit Studio Dragon, US-based studio Fifth Season, and CJ ENM Studios, as well as Tving.

It announced in July that it is launching a wholly-owned subsidiary in Saudi Arabia to pursue collaborations in the Middle East and North Africa and signed a three-year partnership with the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures earlier this year to spotlight Asian cinema in Hollywood.
