Warner Bros Pictures has appointed Sirena Liu as the studio’s general manager, theatrical for China.
Liu most recently served as president of Legendary East, where her five-year stint took in the China releases of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Minecraft, the top-grossing imported films in the market for last year and this year to date.
Prior to joining Legendary, Liu served as China country manager for Twentieth Century Fox.
Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros Pictures president of global distribution, said: “Sirena is a powerhouse executive with a deep understanding of the Chinese film landscape and an impressive record of performance. Her leadership will be critical as we continue to grow our footprint in one of the world’s most important theatrical markets.”
Liu said: “I’m honoured to join Warner Bros and excited to contribute to one of the most iconic film brands in the world. China continues to be one of the most dynamic and vital markets globally.”
