‘Swimming With Men’, Lucretia Martel, ‘The Man Who Killed Don Quixote’

Sunday July 1

  • Oliver Parker’s Swimming With Men closes the 72nd Edinburgh International Film Festival. The UK comedy stars Rob Brydon, Adeel Akhtar, Jim Carter, Rupert Graves, Daniel Mays, Charlotte Riley and Thomas Turgoose.

Friday July 6

  • Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival begins in Switzerland. The genre festival opens with the world premiere of web series Le 5e Cavalier, and has an industry programme featuring director Timur Bekmambetov.
  • Screen will present the Screen International Rising Star Asia Award to Hong Kong’s Stephy Tang at the New York Asian Film Festival.

  • Karlovy Vary Film Festival continues in the Czech Republic - Terry Gilliam will be in town with actor Joana Ribeiro for a screening of The Man Who Killed Don Quixote on Wednesday July 4. The festival closes on Saturday July 7.
  • Munich Film Festival runs in Germany until Saturday July 7 - highlights include the CineMasters competitions which features Lee Chang-dong’s Burning, Paul Schrader’s First Reformed and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Shoplifters among others. Lucretia Martel is the focus of a retrospective.
