The World Soundtrack Awards (WSA) has unveiled the second and final wave of nominees for its 22nd edition, which takes place on October 22 in Ghent, Belgium.

Composers nominated for the Discovery award include Eiko Ishibashi for Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Oscar-winning Drive My Car and Isobel Waller-Bridge for spy thriller Munich: The Edge Of War. 

Also nominated is post-rock electronica band Son Lux, which worked on the score for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Nainita Desai’s score for 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible is in the running for the public choice award. Desai won the discovery of the year award and was nominated for the public choice award at last year’s ceremony, for The Reason I Jump.

Three composers will compete for the Sabam Award for best original composition by a young composer, with a €2,500 prize. The contest involves scoring a scene from FW Murnau’s silent-film classic Nosferatu, to mark the film’s centenary this year.

The participants are Italy’s Giacomo Rita, Robert Wallace from the US and John Konsolakis from Greece.

The best original score for a Belgian Production prize returns after last year’s hiatus. Nominees are Vincent Cahay for Inexorable, Blaise Delafosse aka Demusmaker for Nowhere and French indie pop band The Penelopes for SpaceBoy.

The first cohort of nominees, announced in August, included film composer of the year, television composer of the year and best original song.

The winners will be revealed on October 22 at Film Fest Ghent, with US film composer and jazz artist Mark Isham performing as a guest of honourThe WSA Industry Award goes to the Alliance for Women Film Composers (AWFC) and will be presented to AWFC president Catherine Joy in Ghent.
