‘The Heroes Of The Louvre’

EXCLUSIVE: Paris- and Los Angeles-based sales company Other Angle Pictures, which acquired international rights to Elie Chouraqui’s The Heroes Of The Louvre over the summer, has already closed deals in several territories ahead of TIFF, including North America (Menemsha Films), Australia (Moving Story), New Zealand (Limelight) and Belgium (Victory).

Inspired by the true story of Chouraqui’s grandfather, who was a guard at the Louvre in occupied France, the film centres on a night watchman tasked with transporting some of the museum’s treasures out of Paris as German forces close in. Kad Merad and Marie Gillain headline the dramatic thriller, which was released in France on Wednesday (September 9) by Paradis Films.

Chouraqui, whose directing credits include Harrison’s Flowers, O Jerusalem and The Origin Of Violence, adapted the feature from a graphic novel series he created with illustrator Letizia Depedri.

The film’s supporting cast includes Julia de Nunez, Bernard Le Coq, Jean-Hughes Anglade, Lionel Abelanski, Gary Mihaileanu and Christine Citti. It is produced by Alexandra Fechner for Fechner Productions and co-produced by Serge Borenstein for Les Films de l’Altaï alongside the Louvre Museum.

Other Angle Pictures also heads to TIFF with Avi Nesher’s Centrepiece feature Our Loves, alongside Gersh handling US sales.
