Opening on $3.3m in unlucky 13th place was Warner Bros' crime caper The Big Bounce. It was a deeply disappointing bow for George Armitage's Elmore Leonard adaptation, which stars Owen Wilson and Morgan Freeman, and this was matched by a slew of poor write-ups.

It averaged $1,448 from 2,304 and the skinny 48% approval rating from exit polls suggests it will virtually have disappeared off the face of the Earth by next week. It was one of the lowest ever openings for a big screen adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel (see table).
