Norwegian distributor Sandrew Metronome plans to pre-screen local production Detector, directed by Pal Jackman, on the internet this Thursday, the day before its theatrical release on Friday (August 25).

Norwegian daily Dagbladet is running a competition on its web-site (www.dagbladet.no) which will enable 150 winners to stream the entire movie.

"Film is best at the cinema and cinemas as we know them today will exist for many years," said Detector producer Edward Dreyer. "But testing distribution via the internet is incredibly interesting."

Technical aspects of the project are being handled by Norway's Office Line and mediadesign, which will secure Detector from pirate copying. The film will not be available as a download.

Detector is also set to open the New Nordic Films sidebar of the upcoming Norwegian International Film Festival in Haugesund.
