Gianni Nunnari's Hollywood Gang Productions has optioned the rights to Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan's graphic novel The Last Christmas.

The story finds a misanthropic Father Christmas who has shunned the annual seasonal holiday forced out of seclusion in a bid to save the holiday and the world.

Nunnari will produced and Hollywood Gang Productions' Craig J Flores will serve as executive producer on the film, which is in the early stages of development.

The company's line-up includes the graphic novel adaptation of Warren Ellis' Ocean, Frank Miller's Ronin, and The Wild Geese, based on Daniel Carney's unpublished novel The Thin White Line.

Nunnari recently produced the global hit 300 and the 2007 best picture Oscar winner The Departed.
