The editor-in-chief of Film Professional died on Aug 29 following a nine-year battle with cancer. He was 57.

Arthur ‘Sandy’ Mandelberger was an enthusiastic advocate of independent cinema. According to a tribute on the Film Society Of Lincoln Center’s website he helped start-up festivals establish themselves and was a regular face on the circuit.

He organised the Independents Showcase in Cannes, Berlin, Milan and Los Angeles and his company International Media Resources co-presented The London Screenings.
