Odeon Pictures hasacquired the film rights to adapt Sebastian Fitzek's bestselling psychothrillerDie Therapie, which was publishedthis July and immediately appeared in the bestseller lists.

Berlin-based Fitzekwill be actively involved in the development of the screenplay and will serveas an advisor to the project from concept through to principal photography, which is scheduled to start in early 2008.

Die Therapie centres on the famous psychiatrist Viktor Larenzwhose 12-year-old daughter Josy disappears under mysterious circumstances. Fouryears later, the mourning father is living in a remote holiday home when he isvisited by a beautiful stranger. She tells him how she is constantly torturedby hallucinations of a little girl who had similarly disappeared without atrace. Larenz begins a course of therapy which turns more and more into adramatic interrogation.
