Freshfrom his best actor Oscar triumph for Capote, Philip Seymour Hoffman has signedto star opposite Laura Linney in Fox Searchlight's comedy The Savages.

TamaraJenkins will direct from her screenplay and production is set to kick off inApril in New York City.

Hoffmanand Linney will play adult siblings who become entrusted with the care of theirestranged father who never took care of them.

TedHope will produce with Anne Carey and Fred and Erica Westheimer.

AlexanderPayne, Jim Taylor and Jim Burke of Ad Hominem will serve as executive producersunder their deal with the studio.

FoxSearchlight president of production Claudia Lewis and vice president ofproduction Joshua Deighton will oversee the project for the studio.

"Inone month I'll be making a movie with two of the most exciting actors workingtoday," Jenkins said. "It's a writer-director's dream."

"Searchlight hastotally embraced Tamara's unique vision for this film, and we couldn't ask for morelike-minded and supportive partners," Hope added.
