The 20th Films From The South Festival will host a special event on Oct 10 in Oslo to honour The World Cinema Foundation.

The Live Gala screenign will also welcome the Norwegian Crown Prince and Liv Ullman.

The evening will include the world premiere screening of the Foundation’s new restoration of Mario Peixoto’s 1931 Brazilian classic Limite.

The film will be accompanied by new music from Norwegian composter Bugge Wesseltoft, performed by European and Brazilian musicians at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet.


The festival (Oct 7-17) will also present the full programme of all 12 films restored by the WCF.The festival is dedicated to films from Asia, Africa and Latin America.


“Both Films from the South festival and WCF are devoted to promoting the international language of film,” states FFS Creative Director Lasse Skagen. “With this special screening at The Norwegian Opera and the full retrospective of WCF restored films, Films from the South and WCF are joining forces to celebrate the preservation of the Film Heritage.”
