Germany's free-TV channels Tele 5 and NBC Giga are beingrelaunched as film channels from this autumn.

Tele 5, which is a 100% subsidiary of Herbert Kloiber's TeleMuenchen Group (TMG), will be relaunched on September 22 and has acquired a70-title package from license trader Intertainment including Grey Owl, TheBig Kahuna and The Patriot as well as eight films from Kineosranging from Robocop and The Bonfire Of The Vanities to PhantomCommando and Throw Momma Out Of The Train.

In addition, Tele 5 will able to draw on TMG's 5,000-stronglibrary of films acquired from Universal/Polygram, Warner Bros., BuenaVista/Disney, MGM, Artisan, New Line, Granada/Carlton, Canal Plus andLakeshore.

Meanwhile, NBC Universal is to relaunch NBC Giga as "TheFourth - We Are Hollywood" ("Das Vierte - Wir Sind Hollywood")from September 29. Das Vierte will schedule two feature films from theUniversal back catalogue every weekday evening from 20.15 and classics aroundthe clock at weekends. The channel's schedules will include re-runs of seriessuch as Knight Ride and Quincy.

Last week, Germany's private channel RTL signed a filmpackage deal with NBC Universal International Television Distribution for therights to the free-TV premiere of such titles as Peter Jackson's King Kong,the horror thriller Van Helsing, and the romantic comedies BridgetJones - The Edge Of Reason and Love, Actually.
