Making his debut as artisticdirector of Directors' Fortnight, Olivier Pere unveiled the line-up for thisyear's edition this morning in Paris.
Among the twenty titles inthis year's selection are 10 French or French co-produced films, four from theUS, two from Japan and two from Iran. Among the other territories representedare Spain, Italy, Belgium, Chile, Argentina, the Philippines and Lebanon.
Notable entries includeThomas Vincent's Je Suis Un Assassin, the director's highly awaitedsecond film after 1999's Karnaval. Also in the line-up The Heart IsDeceitful'Above All Things the second feature from Italian film legacyheiress Asia Argento, A Vot'Bon Coeur from elder statesman PaulVecchiali, three Sundance features including Nicole Kassell's The Woodsman starring Kevin Bacon as a convicted child molestor and Japan's Cha No Aji fromdirector Ishii Katsuhito which will open the Fortnight.
In all, there are 14 worldpremieres and three first films which will also be eligible to compete for theCamera d'Or.
Following a turbulent twoyears that saw the exit of artistic directors Marie-Pierre Macia and FrancoisDa Silva, Pascal Thomas, who heads up the Societe Des Realisateurs des Films(SRF) noted, "This is the first time in a long time that we are very proud ofthe selection."
