Actor Pete Postlethwaite died yesterday at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer.

He passed away peacefully in a Shropshire, UK hospital, his spokesman said.

He appeared in two 2010 hits: Ben Affleck’s The Town (as crook/flower shop owner Fergie) and Christopher Nolan’s Inception (as Cillian Murphy’s dying father). He also acts in the forthcoming Irish feature Killing Bono.

He was Oscar nominated in 1993 for In The Name Of The Father. His other films include The Usual Suspects, Brassed Off, and Amistad.

He recently was part of climate change film The Age Of Stupid.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqui, his son, Will, and daughter, Lily.
