Bold Films has signed Phillip Noyce to direct the true crime thriller Above Suspicion about the only FBI agent to be convicted of murder after an affair with an informant threatens to destroy his marriage and career.

The LA-based company holds worldwide rights and worldwide distribution president Stephanie Denton is talking to buyers here about the story of Mark Putnam based on New York Times writer Joe Sharkey's book. Chris Gerolmo, whose credits include Mississippi Burning, adapted the screenplay.

Bold Films' Michel Litvak and co-presidents David Lancaster and Gary Michael Walters are producing with Colleen Camp, Amy Adelson and Angela Amato.

'While providing the opportunity for compelling and richly drawn characters, the psychological twists and turns of Above Suspicion have the power to keep an audience on the edge of their seats,' said Noyce, whose credits include The Quiet American, The Bone Collector and Patriot Games.

'Noyce has a brilliant knack for creating both fascinating characters and gripping narrative,' Walters added. 'His sure directorial touch will bring this true story to life.'

Bold's AFM slate includes Joe Dante's supernatural thriller The Hole currently in production and the upcoming thriller Jack from Joseph Ruben.
