Picture This! Entertainment has picked up North American rights from Taiwan's Three Dots Entertainment to Leste Chen's gay-themed drama Eternal Summer (Sheng Xia Guang Nian).

The distributor plans to play Eternal Summer in US and Canadian festivals before taking it on general release later in the year.

Eternal Summer follows the longstanding friendship of two boys whose dormant feelings for each other are awakened when they get to university. It earned actor Bryant Chang the best new performer prize at the 2006 Golden Horse Awards held in Taipei.

'Director Leste Chen has imbued Eternal Summer with a striking cinematic and audio sensibility, which elevates it from many other films in the gay genre,' Picture This! Entertainment president Doug Witkins, who negotiated the deal with producer Michelle Yeh on behalf of Three Dots Entertainment, said.

Picture This! Entertainment's upcoming 2007 releases include Amnon Buchbinder's Whole New Thing, Brillante Mendoza's The Masseur, and Alexis Dos Santos' Glue.
