Universal became the first studio to release five $100m-plusinternational grossing films in a single year as American Pie: The Wedding reached the mark over the weekend.

The comedy sequel grossed $6.5m from 1,730 sites in 32 countriesfor an estimated $100m running total.

8 Mile, Johnny English, The Hulk and 2 Fast 2 Furious are the other top performers of theyear. The studio also became the first to have six titles pass $100m in asingle year, including Red Dragon, which was released in 2002.

"What a fantastic year it has been and we have IntolerableCruelty, Love Actuallyand Peter Pan yet togo," Randy Greenberg, Universal's senior vice president of internationaltheatrical marketing and distribution, said in a statement.

American Pie: The Wedding opened top in France on $3.9m from 591 venues and isexpected to play out well with 10 days of school holidays starting this week.

In the French-speaking part of Switzerland it took $375,000 from24, roughly 20% bigger than American Pie 2.

Intolerable Cruelty grossed $4.5m from 780 in five countries in its firstinternational weekend, spurred by a strong number one Italian bow on $2.6m from315 and 30% market share that was the distributor's sixth biggest opening everthere.

In Brazil, where 50% of the grosses are still to be reported, theblack comedy opened top on $600,000 from 155 and roughly 25% market share.

Intolerable Cruelty opened third in Mexico on $700,000 and scored a disappointing$156,000 from 48 in Taiwan.

Next weekend it opens inGermany, Spain, the UK and Australia.
