District B13's Pierre Morel is in talks to direct the action thriller Hunter-Killer for Relativity Media, who acquired the screenplay from producer Arne Schmidt based on the novel Firing Point by Don Keith and George Wallace.
Kavanaugh will produce with Original Film's Neal Moritz and Toby Jaffe. Relativity's Tucker Tooley will serve as executive producer.
Hunter-Killer tells the story of an American submarine commander and a team of Navy SEALs who must rescue the Russian President during a coup and defeat a renegade Admiral to avert all-out war.
Kavanaugh and Moritz previously worked together on The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift, on which Kavanaugh served as executive producer and Moritz served as producer.
Relativity and Original Film have also partnered with Tobey Maguire on the upcoming graphic novel adaptation Afterburn.
