Pingyao International Film Festival

Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival (PYIFF) was initiated and founded by Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke in 2017.The festival is held annually in the ancient city of Pingyao, located in Shanxi Province. Aiming to raise communication and cooperation between filmmakers of China and non-Western, developing countries, and to encourage dialogues between Western and non-Western films, the festival pays special attention to films from China, Asian, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Focused on new works from young directors, the festival dedicates itself to promoting and providing a platform for young directors that are creative, imaginative and powerful.
