Sidney Poitier will receive BAFTA/LA's Cunard Britannia Award forlifetime contributions to international film at the 15th annual BAFTA/LA CunardBritannia Awards in Los Angeles on Nov 2.

Anthony Minghella will collect the John Schlesinger BritanniaAward for artistic excellence in directing, and Rachel Weisz will receive theBritannia Award for artist of the year.

Poitier won the Oscar in 1964 for Lilies In The Field and an honorary Oscar in 2002. He hasalso starred in The Defiant Ones and In The Heat Of The Night, among many others.

Minghella's directing credits include The English Patient, for which he won the directing Oscar in1997, as well as Truly Madly Deeply, Cold Mountain, The Talented Mr Ripley, and the upcoming Breaking And Entering.

Weisz won the best supporting actress this year for TheConstant Gardener andwill be seen starring this autumn opposite Hugh Jackman in The Fountain. Her credits include Constantine and The Shape Of Things.

As previously announced, Clint Eastwood will receive BAFTA/LA'sannual Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for excellence in film.
