Jon Favreau wrote and will direct the comedy to star Sofia Vergara, Robert Downey Jr, John Leguizamo and Bobby Cannavale. Aldamisa International will kick off pre-sales in Cannes.

Aldamisa and longstanding finance partner Kilburn Media and Mark Manuel will co-finance the story about a chef who loses his job, starts up a food truck and in the process rediscovers his artistry and his estranged family.

Favreau also stars and is producing with Karen Gilchrist and Aldamisa co-chairman Sergei Bespalov.

Production has been set for Jul 8 in Los Angeles.

“I’m looking forward to working with the talented cast that has started to take shape,” said Favreau. “Setting a film in the culinary world of Los Angeles offers wonderful opportunities for a character-driven comedy.”

CAA packaged and arranged financing for Chef and will represent US rights. Jere Hausfater and Philip Elway negotiated the international rights deal on behalf of Aldamisa.
