Abraham Verghese’s family saga charts the fortunes of twins born in an Ethiopian mission church and has been translated into more than 25 languages.

Rosalie Swedlin and Steve Golin will produce for the company. Cutting For Stone spans the continents of Afircan and the US as the siblings born to an Indian nun and a British surgeon come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of war.

“Dr Verghese’s wonderful novel evokes a world so vivid and populated which such rich characters, I knew I wanted to see it come alive on screen,” Swedlin said. “It’s an incredibly powerful story of family and survival, told in a unique, emotional and truly imaginative way.”

“We feel this book represents the kind of challenging and humanistic storytelling Anonymous aspires to produce,” Golin said.

Literary agent Mary Evans of Mary Evans Inc, attorney David Colden and UTA brokered the deal with Anonymous on behalf of Verghese.
