Cary Granat and Ed Jones’ family content provider Bedrock Studios has signed a deal with new producer Strange Weather Films.

The multi-year agreement with Andrew Adamson and Aron Warner marks Bedrock’s first overall deal with a production company.

Strange Weather Films will be housed at Bedrock’s Santa Monica studio and will serve as a launching pad for emerging directors.

Adamson and Warner will develop projects for Adamson to direct and/or produce, with Warner and Bedrock serving as producers. Bedrock will develop character design, environments, and early visualisations, research and development on all Strange Weather projects.

The Strange Weather Films partners bring a wealth of experience to the table, having served as executive producers on ShrekForever After. Adamson directed the first two Shrek films in the franchise and Warner produced the first three.

Jeffrey Fierson will serve as the head of development under Adamson and Warner.

“Aron and I are excited to embark on this new enterprise with Cary Granat and the team at Bedrock,” Adamson said. “Their commitment to creating an environment for writers and directors to explore new and innovative ways of approaching broad-based entertainment is something we are proud to be a part of.”

“Ed and I and the entire Bedrock team are thrilled to call ourselves Andrew and Aron’s partners and will do all we can to support Strange Weather in becoming an industry leader and a real shining light in the entertainment industry. These are two of the greatest talents working in our industry today,” Granat added.

Bedrock is currently developing Rats Of NIMH, A Wrinkle In Time and Dinosaur Bob, among others. Its first project, Turkeys, is in pre-production and will be voiced by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson. Peter Farrelly will serve as executive producer.
