UPDATE: Lionsgate will commence pre-sales in Cannes on Summit Entertainment’s action-comedy sequel to the $200m worldwide box office hit as it emerged the sales force will also commence talks with buyers on its Dirty Dancing reboot.

Zeta-Jones will next be seen in Warner Bros’ summer release Rock Of Ages while Lee starred in I Saw The Devil and features in Paramount’s summer release G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren will return as the retired CIA operatives. In Red 2 they must tackle a new set of adversaries across Europe.

The sequel will open in the US on Aug 2, 2013. Dean Parisot will direct from a screenplay by Erich and Jon Hoeber, who wrote the first instalment. Lorenzo DiBonaventura and Mark Vahradian will produce through DiBonaventura Pictures.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group’s president of production Erik Feig will oversee for the studio alongside Summit svp of production Geoff Shaevitz.

  • Dirty Dancing will be directed by the 1987 original’s choreographer Kenny Ortega. Debra Martin Chase, Ortega, and Alli Shearmur are producing the romance.
