The companies are teaming up with Sandler’s Happy Madison to adapt Hasbro’s 1949 fantasy board game.

Kevin Lima is attached to direct from a screenplay by Sandler and Robert Smigel.

Hasbro president and CEO Brian Goldner svp and managing director of motion pictures Bennett Schneir will produce with Happy Madison Productions. Sam Dickerman will oversee development for Columbia.

In Candy Land, players to travel fantastical lands made of sweets and encounter colourful characters like Princess Frostine, Lord Licorice, Mr Mint, and King Candy.

Candy Land is more than just a game,” Columbia president Doug Belgrad said. “It is a brand that children, parents and grandparents know and love. The world of Candy Land offers an extraordinary canvas upon which to create a fantastical, live-action family adventure film with a larger than life part for Adam.”
