Donna Gigliotti has been appointed president of production at The Weinstein Company.

Gigliotti was a former Miramax Films executive vice president.

She will work directly with TWC co-chairmen Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and produce several films for the company.

Her first production for TWC will be I Don’t Know How She Does It, set to star Sarah Jessica Parker, which starts shooting Jan 17, 2011.

She is also overseeing My Week With Marilyn, shooting now in the UK starring Michelle Williams; and David O Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, which will shoot in the second half of 2011.

She was an Oscar winner for 1998’s Shakespeare In Love (Miramax) and an Oscar nominee for The Reader (TWC).

She previously worked as an assistant to Martin Scorsese on Raging Bull, as director of acquisitions of UA Classics, co-founder of Orion Classics, EVP of Miramax, and president of production for USA Films. She recently produced Matt Reeves’ Let Me In.

“Donna’s a great producer who filmmakers love,” said Harvey Weinstein. “She has impeccable taste but she’s tough-minded and practical, too. I’m looking forward to sharing with her at The Weinstein Company the same kind of success we celebrated together at Miramax.”
