LA-based Fixed Point Films’ Jonah Hirsch and Shining Star Productions’ Stuart Stout will turn Stuart and Shelby Stout book Hope’s Wish into a feature and have set Oscar-winner Diana Ossana to adapt the screenplay.

Ossana will produce with Hirsch and Ossana’s Brokeback Mountain collaborator and fellow Oscar winner Larry McMurtry will serve as executive producer alongside Stuart Stout, Bert Hesse and Stephen Bridgewater. Ossana will commence work on the screenplay in the autumn.

The book is based on the life story of the Stouts’ daughter Hope who dedicated her life to helping others after she was diagnosed with a life threatening illness at the age of 12.

The project has the cooperation of the March Forth with Hope Foundation, the charitable organization set up by the Stout family, and also the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Hope’s Wish reminded me of the innocence of children and their refusal to accept the limits of what adults consider might be possible,” Ossana said. “I feel privileged to be a part of bringing Hope’s inspirational story to film.”

“Shelby and I are very excited about Hope’s story being made into a feature film and are honored to have exceptional talents such as Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry on our team to make this film a reality,” Stuart Stout. “Hope’s kindness and generosity affected so many in our community, and we are blessed to be able to share her story through this film.”

Fixed Pont’s credits include Main Street starring Colin Firth, Orlando Bloom and Ellen Burstyn and Passion Playwith Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox and Bill Murray.
