Focus Features, eOne, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) and Blumhouse Productions announced (7) that the franchise co-creator is back to write and direct the third episode.

Principal photography is set to commence on July 7 ahead of a US release though Focus on April 3 2015. Focus acquired the rights when it absorbed FilmDistrict.

eOne will distribute the Insidious 3 in Canada, the UK and Spain, while Sony will release across the rest of the world.

Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions, which produced the first two instalments, is producing with Oren Peli and James Wan. 

The first two Insidious films grossed $257m worldwide.
