Lionsgate has further bulked up its robust Cannes slate with Untitled Tony Scott crime thriller from Scott Free and Davis Films to star Mickey Rourke (pictured).

Based on by Buddy Giovinazzo’s novel Potsdamer Platz, the story follows two Jersey mobsters sent on a mission to wipe out a rival crime lord’s Puerto Rico compound.

Complications arise when they discover a six-year-old girl in hiding and allow her to live. Louis Mellis and David Scinto, who collaborated on Sexy Beast, adapted the screenplay and the producers are out to cast.

The film will shoot in Puerto Rico and other locations. Scott will produce through his Scott Free Productions alongside Davis Films’ Samuel Hadida, whose Metroplitan will distribute in France. The producers first partnered in 1993 on True Romance and teamed up again ten years later on Domino.

“Samuel only delivered this exciting package to us at the start of the market but the potent mix of Tony Scott, Mickey Rourke and a brilliant script has proven to be a magnet for our buyers,” Lionsgate’s international chief Helen Lee Kim, said.

“I am excited to be making this third film with Tony and to have Scott Free as my producing partners,” Hadida said. “We are in serious negotiations with several major names to join Mickey as stars and the overall package will be one of the most commercial that I have ever produced’
