The Way Back producer Joni Levin and co-writer Keith Clarke have boarded the coming-of-age story Tom’s Dad through their Point Blank Productions.

Lasse Halstrom will direct the film with Patrick Dempsey set to star as a 1960s nightclub performer at a professional crossroads whose estranged son turns up on his doorstep. Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil is also producing.

Clarke serves as executive producer on The Way Back, which is also being produced by Exclusive Media’s Nigel Sinclair and executive producer Guy East, and recently completed his adapted screenplay of Herman Wouk’s Marjorie Morningstar for Point Blank. The project is out to directors.

Clarke wrote the original screenplay for The Way Back that director Peter Weir rewrote and both will share screenwriting credit.
