Relativity Media is betting Michael Drosnin’s bestselling Bible Code series will make a strong tentpole release and has acquired rights to the books The Bible Code, Bible Code II: The Countdown and Bible Code III: Saving The World.

The series is based on a 3,000-year-old code in the Bible found by a top Israeli scientist and confirmed by a senior code breaker at the US National Security Agency.

The code reveals momentous historical events and predictions, among them the election of President Barack Obama, the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The studio will develop the series of books into a tentpole film to be released in 2012.

“The Bible Code series has been one of my favorites since the first installment was published,” Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh said. “As a science junkie, realising that the statistical probability that the code could be accurate is nearly impossible makes this an incredible story that must be told.”

“I think Ryan is the best producer in Hollywood to make this movie,” Drosnin added. “He understands it’s a great adventure, with the ultimate cosmic twist.”
