The €3m ($4m) Secrets of War will again be directed by Dick Dennis Bots and written by Karen van Holst Pellekaan.

After their runaway success with children’s movie Cool Kids Don’t Cry [pictured], Dutch production outfis Rinkel Film and Bijker are reuniting on a new film from the same creative team.

The €3m ($4m) Secrets of War will again be directed by Dick Dennis Bots and written by Karen van Holst Pellekaan. It is set in the Second World War and is about two 12 year olds whose friendship come under strain because of the tumultuous events around them.

Dutch Filmworks is already aboard to handle distribution.

Meanwhile, Rinkel is also pushing ahead its ambitious new $3m feature Lucia de B. This tells the story of Lucia de Berk, the Dutch nurse convicted of killing several patients in her care in what is regarded as one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in Dutch history. Paula Van der Ouest (Black Butterflies, The Domino Effect) is directing.

Rinkel is also aboard as Dutch coproducer on Simon Pummell’s thriller Brand New-U (shooting in March and sold by the Match Factory).

Cool Kids Don’t Cry (handled by High Point) has already been sold for remake rights to Norway. A German remake is expected to be confirmed during the market.
