The sequel to the current Serbian box-office hit Montevideo, Taste of a Dream, is set to begin shooting at original locations in Uruguay from March.

Actor Dragan Bjelogrlić’s directorial debut has been breaking box-office records throughout Serbia with more than 300,000 admissions in its first five weeks of release since the end of December.

The historical melodrama is adapted from the famous sport journalist Vladimir Stanković’s book Montevideo, God Bless You, which tells the story of how a dream came true when a team of young Serbian football players were invited to participate in the first World Cup in Montevideo in 1930.

The sequel will now focus on the team’s epic journey from Belgrade to Montevideo and the obstacles they faced during their time in Uruguay before returning home as national heroes with the World Cup bronze medal. Filming of the 16-day sea voyage has already been completed on a purpose-built ship set located on flat ground outside of Belgrade.

International sales for Montevideo,Taste of a Dream are being handled by the fledgling sales outfit Soul Food who will be showing the film for the first time to international buyers at the EFM this week.
