James and Laurence Fox have signed on to play father and son in Madonna’s film about Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.

Veteran British actor James Fox and his son Laurence Fox have joined the cast of Madonna’s W.E, which started shooting yesterday. It will shoot in the UK, France and the US.

Art will imitate life as the two members of the acting dynasty take the roles of King George V, and his son Bertie in the film, about the romance between British monarch Edward VIII and divorcee Wallis Simpson.

Andrea Risborough and James D’Arcy have already been confirmed in the roles of Edward and Wallis, whilst Abbie Cornish and Oscar Isaac will play New Yorker Wally Winthrop and her Russian love interest Evgeni in the film’s contemporary parallel love story, set in 1998.

British actor Richard Coyle, whose recent credits include Prince Of Persia, has also joined the cast as Winthrop’s husband.

The film, which has been written by Madonna and Alek Keshishian, is being produced by Colin Vaines. Kris Thykier is executive producing along with Nigel Wooll.
