The studio announced the two-year first-look deal with writing team Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci and their K/O Paper Products on Tuesday (May 1).

The duo will kick off their relationship with Universal by reimagining titles from the studio’s library including Van Helsing and The Mummy. 

Their credits include Star Trek, Transformers, Cowboys & Aliens and Mission: Impossible III.

Kurtzman’s feature directorial debut People Like Us based on the screenplay he co-wrote with Orci will close the Los Angeles Film Festival on Jun 24 and opens through DreamWorks-Disney in the US on Jun 29.
