In another high-profile acquisition, London-based WestEnd Films will handle international rights on The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, which stars Zach Braff, Jessica Biel and Chloe Moretz and boasts a score and music supervision by Justin Timberlake.

The film, directed by Bill Purple, tells the story of Henry (Braff)  whose world is turned upside down when his wife (Biel) is killed in a tragic accident. In an attempt to overcome his grief, Henry befriends a young homeless girl (Moretz) and helps her accomplish her dream of building
a raft to cross the Atlantic to find her long lost father.

Billed as “a witty and uplifting tale about life, love and loss and following one’s craziest dreams,” the film is currently in pre-production. Principal photography starts in April 2011.

Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple of Iron Ocean Films and Ross Dinerstein of Parlay Media are producing. The filmmakers were represented by Kevin Iwashina who will also serve as executive producer.

“The film has been a passion project of mine for the last few years and I’m thrilled to see it come alive with such tremendous actors as Zach Braff and Chloe Moretz,” Biel said in a statement.
