German commercial broadcasters Sat1 and the ProSieben Media Group are considering forming a joint family of channels according to ProSieben's new chief Urs Rohner.

The two groups are understood to be examining three scenarios. One involves Sat1 being brought into ProSieben with Sat1's shareholders becoming shareholders in ProSieben; while another sees the Kirch Group setting up a new holding company to administer the joint broadcasting interests as it is majority shareholder in both Sat1 and ProSieben. The third option involves ProSieben buying out Sat1.

"The earlier one tackles this project, the quicker one will have the synergies", Rohner said.
