Protagonist Pictures has come on board for international sales on A View From The Bridge, to star Mia Wasikowska, Vera Farmiga and Anthony LaPaglia.

Sam Neill and newcomer Sebastian Stan (Black Swan, Captain America) have also joined the cast.

Andrew Bovell (XXX) has adapted the screenplay, and Robert Connolly (Balibo) will direct.

The project has financing from the Australian Producers Offset Fund and Film Victoria.

The shoot will start in June in Melbourne and New York.

LaPaglia will also produce, after he secured the film rights to the project (and Arthur Miller’s approval) after starring in the 1998 Tony Award-winning Broadway staging of the famed play. The other producers are Marion Pilowsky and Natalie Stevenson.

The story follows a family in 1950s New York, a longshoreman (LaPaglia) and his long-suffering wife (Farmiga) and their young niece (Wasikowska), whose world is changed when the wife’s cousins arrive from Italy.
