Marek Najbrt’s World War 2 film Protektor has picked up nine awards at the Czech Lions

Protektor was awarded nine trophies March 6 at the Czech Lions, the annual awards ceremony presented by the Czech Film and Television Academy.

In addition to being judged best film of 2009, the World War 2 period film also earned a best director award for Marek Najbrt (Champions), best screenplay and best actress.

Protektor was the Czech Republic’s submission to the foreign-language Oscar race and was named best feature at the Denver International Film Festival. High Point handles international sales.

The other big winner of the night was 3 Seasons In Hell, which won best actor, best cinematography and best score.
