RAI Click, the Italian joint venture TV on-demand service set up by RAI and multimedia publisher e.BisMedia has launched over broadband cable, according to a report in Cable Europe.
RAI Click, which is 60%/40% owned by the two companies respectively, will see RAI programming transmitted over a fibre-optic IP network which is being installed throughout Italy by e.Biscom subsidiary FastWeb.
RAI Click's bouquet currently consists of some 800 titles but is expected to grow to a service comprising 10,000 hours of programming. Channels will be packaged into eight thematic segments: news; sport; movies, plays and classical music; educational programmes and cartoons; pop and rock; documentaries; entertainment, fashion and holidays; and medicine and employment.
