Ivan Reitman, director of Ghostbusters , Twins and Dave, is to receive the "award of excellence in filmmaking" at the forthcoming Cinema Expo convention (June 25-28).

"Reitman has consistently been exciting, thrilling and entertaining moviegoers worldwide. He is remarkably talented and a tribute such as this is justly deserved," said Jimmy Sunshine, co-managing director of the convention.

As a director and producer Reitman, has seen his films gross over $2.5bn worldwide. His production credits include National Lampoon's Animal House, Beethoven and Private Parts.

His latest directorial effort Evolution will screened at the Amsterdam-set event.

Other honorees at Cinema Expo are Andrew Cripps of UIP as "distributor of the year," Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan of Working Title Films as "producers of the year", Cine UK's Steve Wiener as "exhibitor of the year" and TriStar Film Distributors International's Nigel Clark as recipient of the "international achievement in marketing" award.
