"British Filma" surely has become a contradiction in terms.

There does seem to be more peopel involved in the quangos that preside over the industry (with little effect) than there are people actually making films.

Having read the annual report(s) of this and other 'august' bodies I am left wondering what exactly have they achieved over their term of office.

Neither of the indigenous film industries in Ireland or the United Kingdom can be said to be thriving. Each, after their own fashion, count on the United States to prop up their fragile and on occasion, feeble infrastructures and, then have the chutzpah to insinuate that it was all their doing anyway.

To any outside observer or, someone practiced in any sucessful business venture, it is obvious that these bodies are no longer fit for purpose.

Indeed, when held to account or, under nuetral scrutiny, have they ever been?
