EXCLUSIVE: The British Independent Film Awards has selected 30 filmmakers for the latest run of its Springboard training programme, including Pretty Red Dress director Dionne Edwards and Sky Peals director Moin Hussain.

The latest iteration of the Springboard programme will involve 12 directors, 10 writers and eight producers. Running until February 2026, it will offer technical and professional training, mentoring, networking and access to resources to allow the filmmakers to develop their second feature film.

The programme is supported by Prime Video and the ScreenSkills Film Skills Fund, with additional support from Film Finances International and Molinare.

Additional filmmakers on the scheme include Copa ’71 co-director Rachel Ramsay; Bring Them Down director Christopher Andrews; Girl director Adura Onashile; and Jethro Massey, writer-director of Venice 2024 title Paul & Paulette Take A Bath.

Four of the filmmakers have previously been named Screen UK-Ireland Stars of Tomorrow: Onashile, Andrews, Edwards, and Hussain.

The Springboard programme will run alongside the Springboard: Genre programme, supported by Anton, which selected its 14 participants earlier this year.

The Springboard scheme aims to support the next wave of British filmmakers towards long-term careers with global impact.
