These (cinema rage) problems are largely multiplex specific as Mike indicates in his penultimate paragraph with independents historically compromising the theatre experience in other ways (an absence of heating during the winter, failed air conditioning in the summer…). On a more positive note, the independent sector has significantly raised its game during recent times so as to eradicate/reduce its problems and extend the cinema experience as part of a broader multi-media and leisure package. The East Midlands alone, for example, has two outstanding new independent multi-media cinemas with the Phoenix, Leicester and the Quad, Derby as welcome additions to the already excellent Broadway, Nottingham (with all three being within 20-25 minutes travelling distance from most locations within the area). Mike (and changing the subject completely) - would you consider incorporating a readers’ comments section for film reviews?
