Ryan Reynolds and David Suchet are to star in William Phillip's thriller Foolproof, which has started principal photography in Toronto for Alliance Atlantis and Atom Egoyan's EGO FILM ARTS. Reynolds, whose credits include National Lampoon's Van Wilder and upcoming The Wedding Party, will play a theoretical heist mastermind who is blackmailed and forced to carry out an actual bank robbery by a ruthless gangster, played by Suchet, the UK actor famous for playing Hercules Poirot on television and with Hollywood credits include A Perfect Murder and Executive Decision. Kristin Booth, Joris Jarsky and James Allodi co-star.

This will be Phillip's second feature after his debut, Treed Murray. The picture is being executive produced by Peter Sussman, Alliance Atlantis' chief executive officer, and Egoyan. Seaton McLean, president of production at Alliance Atlantis Entertainment Group, and Bill House, executive vice president of motion pictures at Alliance Atlantis Entertainment Group, will serve as producers.

Foolproof will be distributed in Canada by Alliance Atlantis' Odeon Films and in the UK by Momentum Pictures, both subsidiaries of Alliance Atlantis, which will handle sales in all other territories.
