Film Independent senior director Sean McManus and director of programming Rachel Rosen will serve as interim co-directors for the 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival, filling the gap left by Rich Raddon following his ignominious departure last November.

Raddon resigned his post in the wake of a $1,500 donation to the Yes On 8 campaign in support of the ban on same-sex marriages in California. In an ironic scheduling twist, the Los Angeles Film Festival hosted its Sundance party last night [January 19] at the Queer Lounge venue on Main Street.

McManus joined Film Independent in 1998 and is part of the team responsible for the overall management of the organisation. He oversees the development and diversity departments, as well as contributed and earned revenue streams.

Rosen has more than 14 years experience programming in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York and has been a key figure in developing the festival's stature.

'During this interim period, I am confident that Sean and Rachel will continue with Rich Raddon's vision to evolve the festival and create an atmosphere that is diverse in content and culture, inviting, accessible and most importantly, fun,' Film Independent executive director Dawn Hudson said.

This year's event will take place from June 18-28.
