The remit encompasses titles delivered by SPE's expanded local production groups in China, Mexico, India, Germany, Brazil, Spain and Italy as well as acquisitions made through the Columbia Pictures Motion Picture Group. He continues to report to SPE's president of worldwide theatrical operations Paul Smith.

Ladestro is currently overseeing campaigns for Across The Universe Resident Evil: Extinction, Sony/Mandate's 30 Days Of Night, Sleuth, Sony's first local Indian production Saawariya (Beloved), Stephen Chow's Chinese feature CJ7, and select territories for John Rambo, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and St Trinian's, and most of the world on The Spirit.

In his previous role as senior vice president of marketing, acquisitions and local productions, Ladestro oversaw releases such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Kung Fu Hustle, The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, and the Underworld franchise.

'Sal's marketing flair, unique creative instincts and expertise in developing campaigns tailored to the more specialised films have played a pivotal part in our recent successes in this area,' Smith said.

'His unparalleled knowledge and experience of handling product in every country around the world make him a rare commodity and we are thrilled to recognise his contributions to the company with this well deserved promotion.'
